Locally Grown
Sitter Hound is locally-owned and operated by Jack and Ann Mayer Eisen, dog lovers who believe that many dogs thrive best in a home environment when their people are away. Being local and privately owned, helps ensure the homey and homegrown feeling that sets Sitter Hound apart.
Sitter Hound grew out of Jack and Ann's own dog sitting adventures which began small and grew fast. They began Sitter Hound in 2014 out of a growing desire to provide more high-quality and trusted home environment solutions for St. Louis dogs. Dog sitting only at their own home limited the number of dogs that Sitter Hound could care for so in 2016 they established a network of trusted, caring and reliable dog sitters in and around St. Louis to increase Sitter Hound's availability and provide care for a wider variety of dogs' needs.
Carefully Selected and Protected
Each team member is personally interviewed, carefully vetted. (no pun intended) Sitters CANNOT just log on to a website and sign up to be a part of our team. Sitter Hound is insured and bonded with insurance especially created to protect your dog and our team members, as well as, your home and property.
After Sitter Hound handpicks a team member that meets your dog's needs, you and your dog have a meet & greet with your sitter to get acquainted in advance of your dog's stay. For meet & greets, stay@home sitters come to your home to learn your dog's routine and home environment while drop-off sitters welcome you and your dog to check out their homes.
Accessible and Prepared
Sitter Hound management is available for questions and emergency backup if the need should arise.
Your dog's vet will be called for all your dog's medical needs. If your dog's own vet is closed, Sitter Hound has a relationship with a 24-hour emergency vet.
Not only are we accessible, you, too, can be accessible if you choose. You determine your own style of "dog-parenting from a distance." You can receive daily messages and photos or be away from it all.
Proudly St. Louis
Jack and Ann are the parents of two adult children, a 21 year old son who now is mostly away at college.
Ann is a native St. Louisian and graphic designer in solo-practice at Design Annex which allows her the luxury of being caring for dogs while working at home. Ann credits growing up with basset hounds, Daisy and Morgan, as the source for her love of dogs.
Jack is a St. Louisian by way of Massachusetts over 30 years ago. A Cardinals and Blues fan, music, he loves everything St. Louis. Coming from a family that did not particularly like dogs, immediately after college Jack jumped at the first opportunity to get a dog, a spaniel shepherd mix named Bingham, to be followed by Rocky then Toffee.

Jack and Ann's beloved dog Toffee, an aussie-sheltie mix, played an integral role in Sitter Hound acting as head camp counselor from its inception until she passed away. Now their home is filled with the ever-present pitter patter of their many guest dogs.
